Eyes of Wonder
That look of innocence and wide-eyed wonder is priceless. On a recent visit, I made sure to get on the floor with our granddaughter and my camera.
The camera is a proven baby attractant; an immediate point of interest for the short-lived attention span of youngsters. The challenge is to move close enough to fill the frame with your subject and still keep out of reach. I usually spend a lot of time scooting backward and snapping a lot of photos in hopes of snagging one or two good shots. This is one of my favorites.

Baby Steps
On its first day exploring the world above ground, this juvenile ground squirrel stands tall on its hind legs to get the best view possible.
We’ve been watching a pair of ground squirrels scurrying around our yard since last fall. I suspected they might be up to something.

Siblings
On my way to an appointment, I happened to pass by a small pond in the city. I was running a little early so I stopped for a moment to snap a few frames of the new arrivals.
It’s hard to find anything cuter than newly hatched ducklings. These are your basic, wild, mallard variety babies. They just stepped out of the water so they’re still a bit damp.

Comforting Shoulder
My wife, Sara, holds and comforts the newest grandchild at 10-days old. You can tell, in grandmas arms, she is in perfect peace.

It’s been awhile since I posted a portrait photo. This image of our grandson captures a great expression. Sammy loves his bath time. With a firm grip, his mama is soaping him up.

Look of Innocence
Is there anything more innocent than a young child. This is our grandson. He was sitting in the hallway, looking up at someone in the doorway. Don’t you love that cowlick?

Bathtime Bliss
Not all babies enjoy bathtime, but this one certainly does. He’s happy enough to show off those impressive new teeth.

Our grandson, Sammy, actually likes bath time. At only eight months old, he doesn’t even mind the rinse cycle.

Mama’s Pride and Joy
Welcome baby Blake! He is an Easter baby, born March 31, 2013. He is one day old here. I was able to capture this sweet shot of him, with his proud mama looking on.
I had taken a bunch of typical photos during out short visit and had packed up my camera to leave. The nurse had come and did her nurse stuff – checking whatever they check – and placed him in the neonatal bed. As I walked by, headed for the door, this view caught my eye and I thought it would make a great image. So, I quickly unpacked my camera and snapped a couple – this being the last one. It is my favorite of all I took.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for these parents. You can’t duplicate this a week later. It’s a good example of why you should call a professional photographer when the moment really matters. The cost of a professional is minuscule when you consider the priceless memories you will have captured forever.
