Watercolor Sky
A wonderful morning of watercolor tones at the Algoma, WI lighthouse and harbor. A perfect place to be for a peaceful start to the day. Of course, to see this beauty, you have to be willing to be there very early…before sunrise.

Lonley One
I was out taking photos of a field of sunflowers and noticed this single stem of chicory growing on the edge of the road. The morning light seemed to enhance its solitary presence.

Steel Blue Sunrise
This was a magical moment. The sun was rising above a calm Lake Michigan. A few fishermen on the pier…a few geese overhead…with some very cool highlights adding definition to the background of low clouds.

Anticipation
We had the pleasure of spending a few days with our grandson (and his parents). That’s grandma Sara’s hand expertly wielding the spoon.
As you can see, he was an eager eater. This kid can pack away the oatmeal. Just look at the size of that bowl. He ate it all!

Fish Lips
The water was so cold, his lips were turning blue. This large, ancient looking catfish is resting in his favorite underwater shelter on the bottom of a freshwater aquarium display at a large sporting goods retailer.
Popular Night Spot
A number of people waited near the lighthouse, at the end of the long, Kewaunee, WI pier, to watch the full moon rise above Lake Michigan.
This was an August full moon. The small lights you see on the horizon are fishing boats out on the lake. I took this photo from the beach with a large zoom lens.

Fall In the Ferns
As autumn winds down and winter approaches, even the ferns lose their lush, green color in the northeast Wisconsin forests.
On a hike through the woods at Potawatomi State Park, near Sturgeon Bay on Wisconsin’s Door County peninsula, I spotted this colorful collection of leaves resting on a fading bracken fern.
The interesting pattern and contrasting colors seemed worth of a shutter snap.

Charmed
I found these charming wildflowers flourishing along a Lake Michigan beach. I don’t know what species they are but they seem to be rather common in our area.

Smartly Cloudy
These fluffy clouds had a unique quality – enhanced by a partially hidden sunrise. The bright, back-lighting created a sharp silhouette of the lighthouse and piers that mark and separate the Algoma, Wisconsin harbor from Lake Michigan.

Grillwork – Buick Eight
They don’t make ’em like this anymore. Who wouldn’t love the stylish and extravagant front grill and bumper of this classic American automobile – the Buick Eight.
Every May, Algoma, WI hosts a classic car show downtown. I usually snap a few photos and grab a brat from the firefighter’s food stand.
