Pleasant Pad
This pink water lily was resting upon the surface of a garden pond; the perfect, decorative accent to the green lily pads.
I found this delicate beauty in a small, cement pond at the West of the Lake Gardens in Manitowoc, WI. If I remember correctly, it was the only bloom on the pond that day. West of the Lake Gardens is a nice spot for flower lovers. There is no admission and they do a great job of cultivating a variety of flowers. I particularly enjoy their large assortment of tulips in the spring and roses in the summer.

Creating A Mood
High, thin clouds combined with the light and warmth of the sun to create a moody scene over Lake Michigan and around the Kewaunee, Wisconsin lighthouse and pier.
This is was the view you could have experienced just after sunrise on a morning in June 2018. I took a number of images this morning, starting before the sun was up. This was one of the last shots I captured.

Pansies in Purple and Blue
The deep purple color of these pansies, highlighted by the luminescent blue, create a very royal floral feel.
If you have a good eye, you’ll notice the tiny bug on the left, top edge of the top pansy bloom. It’s small enough, I didn’t notice it when I snapped this image.
I found these, and many other beautiful flowers, blooming in small flower beds along the paved trail that runs between Memorial Drive (Highway 42) and the Lake Michigan shore in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Hats off to the volunteer gardeners who beautify their city.

Cabana Boy
This tree frog seemed content to spend his summer just hanging out under a patio umbrella; the perfect place to showcase his engaging personality.
This was not the only tree frog that seemed to be living under this umbrella. There were two others, on this day, who were climbing among the supports of this patio umbrella. As you can see, it doesn’t look like they’ve missed many meals. The patio and umbrella was in the backyard of a rural northwest Missouri home.

Take The Stairs
This is an old, metal stairway brightened by a light from above. The angles, the distressed ceiling and walls plus the light coming from the second floor as well as a small window just to the left give this image a lot of character.
I debated with myself for some time over whether to present this as you see here, in color, or to make it monochrome. I like both versions, but decided on the color version. I will likely share the B&W version at a future date.

How Sweet It Is
This is honeysuckle in bloom. There are about 180 different species of honeysuckle found around the world. This bloom was found in northwest Missouri.
Honeysuckles are a favorite garden plant. Their bright color and sweet nectar attracts hummingbirds. Their vining growth are also used to cover unsightly walls and outbuildings. They are prized for their profuse tubular flowers in summer and the intense fragrance.

Not As I Will
This magnificent stained glass window is one of several at the Centerburg Christian Church in Centerburg, Ohio. The artist depicts Jesus Christ praying in the Garden of Gethsemane.
There is so much to see in this image. First and foremost is the vivid colors and marvelous detail in this huge window. This is my favorite of three windows in the Centerburg Christian Church that are about 2 stories tall. Some details to look for…there are three diciples who are shown sleeping on the right edge of the photo. Above them you see the city of Jerusalem. The colors and detail of the tree and other vegetation is wonderful. You can see the title of this window in the bottom, center panel. It reads, “Not As I Will But As Thou Wilt.” Below the title credit is given to “Ladies Aid Society.” There is one quirky (and embarrassing) feature of note. In the lower left corner of the window sill sits a plastic water bottle. It, no doubt, was left by some church worker before I arrived and I didn’t notice it or I surely would have removed it before photographing this great work of art. That horizontal bar that covers the top of the window is a projection screen used by the church during services.
This image is a compilation of three separate photos. The window was too large to fit in the camera’s field of view so I snapped three frames – top, middle and bottom areas – and combined them using photo processing software.
I’ve posted other windows from this church – Vestibule Glass and I Stand At The Door And Knock.

Sun Kissed
A relaxing morning on the shore of Lake Michigan as the sun rises behind clouds and the Kewaunee, Wisconsin lighthouse and pier.
This is an image I took last May and just never got around to processing it. I love the gentle roll of waves and the reflection of the sun on the water, leading to shore. I did post a monochrome image from this same morning awhile back – “Praise From On High.”

The Start Of Something Big
This image gives you a close-up view of a sunflower just beginning to bloom. At this stage, I think they have a dangerous look to them; not nearly as inviting as they are when the flower is fully opened.
This is another shot taken from the farm field across the road of our rural Wisconsin home. All the blooms are open and “sunny” by now. I’ll post more sunflower photos as the season progresses.

Dusting The Crop
A crop duster skillfully applied his trade to a blooming field of sunflowers in rural northeast Wisconsin.
I happened to be home mowing my lawn when I noticed a bright yellow plane buzzing my house. Well, it wasn’t really interested in my house. It was interested in the field of sunflowers across the road from our home. The sunflowers were just at the beginning of their bloom. It was fun to watch and difficult photograph. I could have done better if I had time to think and plan for this event. As it was, I just barely had time to run in the house and grab my camera and snap a few shots before the plane was off to another field.
