Yellows in the Wild
Yellow wildflowers growing among the tall grasses on the edge of the farm field that adjoins our property.

Misty Morning Boardwalk
As dawn begins to break over the Crescent Beach boardwalk in Algoma, WI, a light fog mutes the colors and quiets the light.
I left home by 4:30 to catch the sunrise at Algoma. But, as you can see, the sunrise was not to be seen. Well, not as I was expecting, anyway.

Reticent
The sun seemed a bit reticent as it made it’s appearance behind the lighthouse and pier at Kewaunee, WI – on the western shore of Lake Michigan.
I named this, “Reticent,” because the sun exhibited qualities of the word: restrained in expression, presentation or appearance.

Sun Worshipers
A patch of wild daises await the sunrise on a rural Wisconsin morning. This was the scene I captured a few days ago where our lawn meets the farm field that surrounds our property.

Wow Factor
The 4th of July tradition of fireworks is part of the Independence Day celebration in Kewaunee, WI. This was a larger-than-life burst from this year’s display.

Hanging Hearts
It’s not difficult to understand the thinking behind the common name of this garden favorite – bleeding heart. Its heart-shape pink or white blooms with a protruding tip make it a logical choice.
Bleeding hearts are a species of flowering plant in the poppy family. These bleeding hearts are from ,my wife’s flowerbed near our house.

Happy Faces
You can’t help but smile when you see the bright, happy faces of the delicate, blooming violas.
These are some of our favorites in the garden. They seem to be very prolific, popping up in the lawn and other flowerbeds where they weren’t planted.

Rock Bottom on the River
Despite the sign, it’s not the “Ro Bottom.” (I hear minions giggling.) It’s the Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery, located on the Riverwalk in downtown Milwaukee, WI. On an evening of “big city” night photography, a photographer friend and I shared a meal here and then walked up and down the river taking photos.

Segregated Spring
The tulips were brilliant at the Scholte House gardens. We visited there during the 2015 Tulip Festival in Pella, IA.

Star Power
The camera (or, more accurately, the photographer) did not fully capture the beauty of this flower. It seemed much more appealing to my eye than it does here, in digital form.
This is a new addition to one of my wife’s flower beds. Unfortunately, it got bit by the recent, late frost. It looks like it may recover so, hopefully, we’ll be seeing future blooms from this one.
