Warming Up
The lighthouse and pier at Kewaunee, Wisconsin awaits the warming power of the sun as it begins its rise over Lake Michigan.
This photo was taken at the end of November, so it was a pretty cool morning and, as you can see by the rough seas on the right side of the pier, it was quite windy as well.

Star Power – Sunrise
Blazing in the Grass
A rising sun and early morning sky made this patch of grass look warm on a chilly Saturday morning.
I stepped outside – into the brisk, early morning air – intending to capture some images of a light cover of frost that fell the night before. The sun was just rising and provided a beautiful backdrop for the dried fall grasses.

Delicate Purples
These delicate purple flowers were a nice touch to contrast with the bright, bold orange and yellow blooms in the background.
I saw these beauties in the small flower bed near the entrance of the Algoma, WI library. Hats off to their gifted gardener(s).

Pick Your Poison
On a cool fall day, I uncovered my barbecue grill and found a large spider clinging to the grill cover. The moment I spotted it, I ran into the house…to grab my camera, of course. As I was taking photos of the spider, a wasp buzzed into the shot. (An insect photo bomb!)
I took several shots of the pair before the winged one flew off. While together, they seemed to get along just fine; no signs of tension or animosity.
I’m not sure I’ve ever photographed a more unlikely pair…a more menacing pair…a more dangerous duo.
No insects, arachnids or photographers were injured or harmed in the production of this image.

Power Point Lighthouse Sunrise
This is a Saturday morning view from the beach in Kewaunee, Wisconsin.
This particular sunrise provided a couple of nice images. You can see an image I posted from the same morning – an entirely different look – by viewing Dawn Highlights.
I used a star filter to get the effect you see here. My favorite part of this image is the sun’s reflection off that first wave in the lower right part of the image.

Two Leaves Left On the Right
Goldfinch on Lookout
An male American Goldfinch looks over the surroundings, comfortably perched on a purple thistle.
This particular bird had a staring role in a couple of earlier posts – Fan Dancer and Watchful Eye. He was not particularly shy and allowed me to get closer than most birds will. I was grateful.

Color Coordination – Autumn Leaves
A recent walk though some woods provided a lot of fall color. On this trip, I focused on the small picture – close-up images of colorful leaves.
This caught my eye because of the combination of red and green against the dark background.
It seemed the smaller leaves were resisting the change. A youthful rebellion.
