Sandhill in a Farm Field
This Sandhill Crane was foraging through a northeast Wisconsin farm field, with its companion. This photo was taken in the fall, when their plumage is mostly gray. In the spring an summer, they appear more brown.
Sandhill cranes became regular inhabitants in our area of rural Wisconsin. I took this photo while walking along the road near my house. It was common in the fall to have dozens flocking and foraging in the fields around our house. Very shy birds in that setting. They were hard to photograph because they would take to flight if I tried to get close. I caught these two with a 300mm lens and had to enlarge the digital image quite a bit to be able to see any detail.

Yellow In Season
A sight for sore eyes. These sunflowers will brighten up anyone’s day. These were found blooming in a farm field in northeast Wisconsin.
This is actually a field of sunflowers that surrounds our rural home. Simply breathtaking when if full bloom. Watch for more photos to come.

Early Morning Oats
January Fog
Whatever lies beyond that tree has been swallowed up by a eerie mid-winter’s fog.
This is was snapped in the middle of the day, in the farm field across the road from our rural home in Kewaunee County, WI. I’ve taken quite a few photos of this tree over the years. See… Spring Enchantment, Day’s End Elm and Serene Sunset.

Packed House
This is a field of sunflowers in full bloom. Just imagine what a difficult jigsaw puzzle this image would make.
I titled this one “Packed House” because it reminds me of people in a crowded theater as seen from the stage.

The Girl with Golden Locks
The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives. ~ Albert Einstein
This photo was mostly an accident…something I just stumbled into. Didn’t realize what I had until I was browsing through a batch of photos from the day. The sweet, little girl in the big field grabbed my attention.
I cropped the original, tweaked the contrast and exposure, enhanced the colors, added an effect to soften the foreground and background…and found an image I love.
If it appeals to you, by all means, share it with others.

Rural Sunset
Just another stunning sunset at our rural Kewaunee County, WI home. I snapped this a few minutes after the sun dipped below the horizon on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.
I took these with my Sony SLT-A55. I used the “sunset” setting on the above photo. The photo below was taken using the “sweep panorama” mode.
