Flower
Bejeweled Begonia
This is an extreme close-up of a potted begonia I photographed at our home, after an early morning shower.
This is part of my experimentation with macro photography. This image was created using a technique to overcome the limited depth of field in macro photography known as focus stacking. This image is a blend of three separate photos – each focused on a different part of the flower. I think more experimentation is needed.

Cool Dude
A macro view of a cool dragon fly resting on the buds of a hosta plant in our flower bed. Those eyes remind me of aviator glasses. Seems like there should be a cigarette loosely dangling from his mouth.

Drama Queen
There seems to be a drama queen in every bunch; even among flowers. These dramatic wildflowers were found on edge of our rural Wisconsin property. I’m not sure what caused the petals to curl in such a dramatic way.

Rose Futures
My wife’s little rosebush has been very prolific this year. Look closely. There’s a tiny spider waiting for this cluster of buds to bloom.

Exotic Flavor
It’s easy to get lost in a crowd, but the truly unique are easy to spot. I found this lovely example in the tulips of the annual Tulip Festival in Pella, IA.

Sun Worshipers
A patch of wild daises await the sunrise on a rural Wisconsin morning. This was the scene I captured a few days ago where our lawn meets the farm field that surrounds our property.

Hanging Hearts
It’s not difficult to understand the thinking behind the common name of this garden favorite – bleeding heart. Its heart-shape pink or white blooms with a protruding tip make it a logical choice.
Bleeding hearts are a species of flowering plant in the poppy family. These bleeding hearts are from ,my wife’s flowerbed near our house.
