Lilac Euphoria
This is an image from early spring…when the lilac bush was in full, fragrant bloom. We have a couple of lilac bushes in our yard. Just walking by them, when they are in bloom, is a sensory treat.

Captivating Beauty
This rose may be one of the most beautiful flowers I’ve ever photographed. It is not perfect or without blemish, but there’s something about its soft blush of pink and the gentle furl of its delicate petals that captivates me; makes it difficult to look away. I snapped a lot of frames of this bloom over a couple of days. (Please excuse my gushing. I understand, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may not have the same effect on everyone.)
I found this beauty in, of all places, the small flowerbed of a motel in Branson, Missouri – the Yellow Rose Inn & Suites. They had a nice variety of blooming flowers around the property but, ironically, there were no yellow roses.

Liberal Supply of Bleeding Hearts
The bleeding hearts were in top form last weekend when I snapped this shot in my wife’s flowerbed.

Thriving Mist Daisy
I found this delightfully healthy bunch of daisies growing wild in a ditch near my home. I photographed them on a foggy morning, which provided the moisture.

Spring Floral Flair
Daffodils are a common sign of spring. I found these growing naturally on a hillside in town. I particularly like the red flourish of this variety.

Fresh Trillium
The trillium is a very common, early spring bloomer in our area. This specimen is at the very beginning of its bloom.

Dutchman’s Breeches

These tiny flowers are a favorite because of their unusual shape that earned them their fun name.
Dutchman’s Breeches is a unique wildflower that gets its name from the flowers that dangle down from thin stalks rising from the lush green plant. The flowers get their name from the blooms that resemble pantaloons hanging upside down and slightly inflated. They are early spring bloomers, arriving April to May, are approximately ¾ inch in length, and white to pinkish in color with a yellow line at the bottom of the flower that resemble a belt on the pantaloons.

Spring Glow
The beauty of spring is exemplified in the daffodil. This two-toned variety is one of my favorites. I found these blooming at a small, local park.
The setting was mostly shaded, but in the early morning, some sunlight sneaks through. The sun, coming from behind the flower gives this daffodil a glowing quality.

Promise
Sudden Outbreak of Spring
On a recent hike, we stumbled across this delightful display of early spring wildflowers. These were the first wildflowers of the season we encountered. We found a few other wildflowers along the trail, but they were very sparse. In a few days, the trail will have many more of these and other varieties.
