Flowing Silk Linens
This is a simple, yet elegant, poppy bloom from the flower bed near our back door. The petals reminded me of linens on a clothes line, flowing under the influence of a warm summer breeze.
It’s original color was the typical poppy red, but I decided to process it as a monochrome image. I love the subtle variations in tone and texture that are not as noticeable with the color version.

Buzz By Here – To Infinity and Beyond!
This portly bumble bee looks as though he’s heading off past the flowers, into infinity, intent on some important bee mission. No doubt, for his honey. (You’ve got to award style points for that perfect form.)

Deptford Pink
I’m having daydreams about spring things…in the middle of a Wisconsin winter.
The name of this wildflower is Deptford Pink. It get’s its name from an area of England where this species was once common.
I snapped this one last summer in central Wisconsin.

Floral Prose
Every now and then I try something different. These flowers brightened up one of the flowerbeds in our yard last summer. I took the photo and added a texture for a different effect.
I think I need to work more on textures. Stay tuned.

Delicate Purples
These delicate purple flowers were a nice touch to contrast with the bright, bold orange and yellow blooms in the background.
I saw these beauties in the small flower bed near the entrance of the Algoma, WI library. Hats off to their gifted gardener(s).

Phlox in Bloom
This is an image I had stored in the archives. I believe these are Phlox. The white accents caught my eye. This was taken a couple of years ago on a trip to Missouri.

A Lovely Bunch
The beauty of Autumn’s colors are not limited to the trees. I found these gorgeous mums blooming at the entrance of the Public Library in Algoma, Wisconsin.
Hats off to whoever tended the their small flower bed. It was a continual source of blooming beauty all season.

Gentle Reminder
Temperatures are cooling and summer flowers are fading as autumn moves in. This image of a zinnia can serve as a reminder of the beauty that will return.
A little post-processing fiddling gave this image its soft feel.

Simple Butterfly
I was able to catch this butterfly resting for a brief moment on the purple coneflowers near our home. Butterflies have been scarce this year – at least around our place – so I was glad to capture this one digitally.
