Morning
Morning Lake Mist
This is an early morning view of Stockade Lake in West Custer Township of South Dakota. Stockade Lake is the largest of Custer State Park’s five lakes. This image was captured just before the sun rose over the trees.

Beyond the Harbor
This is a panoramic view at the mouth of the harbor at Algoma, WI; on the western shore of Lake Michigan.
A couple of weeks ago I set out to capture a sunrise, but as you can see, the sun was blocked by the thick clouds on the horizon. The best feature of the morning were the lighter clouds, highlighted by the hidden sun, that filled the sky above.
To capture this wide-angle view, I took four separate photos and combined them for the final image you see here.
I don’t often post panoramic images because of the width limitations of most websites, including my own. To get the best view of this one, you should click on the photo. When you do, a larger version will open in a new browser tab.

Sun Worshipers
A patch of wild daises await the sunrise on a rural Wisconsin morning. This was the scene I captured a few days ago where our lawn meets the farm field that surrounds our property.

Early Morning Oats
Blazing in the Grass
A rising sun and early morning sky made this patch of grass look warm on a chilly Saturday morning.
I stepped outside – into the brisk, early morning air – intending to capture some images of a light cover of frost that fell the night before. The sun was just rising and provided a beautiful backdrop for the dried fall grasses.

Morning Beam
I got up early last Saturday to take sunrise photos of the Kewaunee, WI lighthouse. This is a photo from the end of the shoot. The sun was up enough that it was out of the frame but you can’t miss it’s power by the prominent beam of light.
More from this shoot will be posted in the next few days. Keep checking back or simply subscribe to the RSS feed.
