Opening Ceremony
Early spring gives us some of it’s first blooming beauty on the trees. This bunch of blossoms, was part of springtime’s opening ceremony. They were perfectly position at the end of a low hanging branch, discovered on a walk through a local wooded area.
I decided to take on the challenge of processing these as a monochrome image. Since they were white flowers, it proved to be more of a challenge than I bargained for. It’s difficult to maintain any kind of detail with all that white.

Superior Rock Collection
On a summer trip to the shore of Lake Superior, a few years ago, we had the opportunity to wade through the clear, icy cold waters.
This is a collection of colorful rocks in the shallow water near the Wisconsin shore of Lake Superior.
I used this as my desktop wallpaper for a long time and always thought it would be a challenging image for a large puzzle.

Daffodils Today – Tulips Tomorrow
The daffodils were the early bloomers in this bunch, photographed at a local park, but the tulips are soon to follow.
For the locals who want to know where these were found – I snapped these beauties in Kewaunee, on the corner of the park by the harbor.

Nester
I took this appropriate photo on Mother’s Day. I was taking photos at the Algoma, WI harbor and stumbled upon this Canada Goose sitting on her nest. She was a little nervous and was guarded while I was around, but I kept my distance.

Blue Harbor
A morning view of the sun rising over the Algoma, Wisconsin harbor with the piers and lighthouse in the distance.
The foreground is mostly mud and the footprints are from water foul that enjoy piddling around in there.

Daffodil Standout
I was out taking photos of one of my favorite lighthouses and spotted some daffodils on the drive home. I stopped and took photos of the normal yellow variety and then thought to drive around Kewaunee, WI to see if I could find more.
This is one from a home that had an impressive display, featuring many varieties. I spent quite a bit of time snapping daffodils.

The Wild Blue
This sunset started out with more pinks. However, I believe I prefer the blues on this one.
This is the farm field across the road from our home.

Shade Tree
The shadow of a tree on this wall caught my eye. From where I was standing, it looked like this was a tree growing out of the green grass at the base of the wall.
The symmetry and texture of the bricks, combined with the random growth pattern of the tree’s shadow give my brain a workout.

Magic In the Making
The sunrise comes pretty early in these parts this time of year. I made my way to the Algoma, Wisconsin harbor to try and catch the sunrise yesterday morning. The sunrise was a 5:35 am. It was a scramble for me to get there in time but, as you can see, I made it…and it was worth it.
This is the view just before the sun would break the surface of the Lake Michigan horizon.

Wave Action
I was photographing a sunrise from the beach in Kewaunee, WI. Usually the Lake Michigan is calm in the early morning hours. On this particular morning, there was a little bit of surf. I moved my tripod closer to the water’s edge and tried to capture the small waves as they splashed on the shore. This is one of those attempts.
Afterwards, I thought of several things I could have tried (camera settings) to make this better. I’ll have to give it another whirl…the next time I’m on the beach and the water is rough.
