Little Show Off
This is an appropriate image to bid Autumn farewell. Even though this may have been the tiniest tree in the forest, it was determined to put on a striking display of fall color. I’m amazed this twig of a tree, with just two large leaves, even made it to fall.
This photo was taken a few years ago. Busy schedules and weather worked against my plans to grab some great fall images this year…and last year. I see the autumn colors and think, I’ll have to get out and take some photos – and then weather turns bad, strong winds come in, and the trees loose all that beauty. Well, maybe next year.

Sunrise Siren Call
I had plenty to accomplish this morning before going to work. My mind wasn’t on photography, but when I stepped out our back door (on my way to fill the bird feeders for the day) I was captivated by this amazing morning sky. I had stuff to do. I already have plenty of sunrises in my photo collection. (Just browse through this blog or type “sunrise” in the search box.) Still, I couldn’t help myself. I had to grab this image. This was a morning I wish I was at one of the nearby harbors – to catch the reflection off the water, too.
This is actually the compilation of seven separate photos “stitched” together. The blog page, because of its size limitations, doesn’t do it justice. If you click on the photo, you can see a larger version…but, in my opinion, it’s still too small to get anywhere close to the full effect.
Rural Sunset
Just another stunning sunset at our rural Kewaunee County, WI home. I snapped this a few minutes after the sun dipped below the horizon on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.
I took these with my Sony SLT-A55. I used the “sunset” setting on the above photo. The photo below was taken using the “sweep panorama” mode.
