Fireworks of Green and Red
More fireworks from 2012 edition of Kewaunee Wisconsin’s Trout Festival. The fireworks show lit up the sky above the harbor creating beautiful reflections on the water’s surface.
Here, I’ve enlarged a part of the reflection from the image above, to give you a more detailed view of the reflection ripples.

Fireworks Reflections
This is the first of several photos I’ll post from the annual Trout Festival held in Kewaunee, WI.
I make it a point to position myself close to the Kewaunee harbor water’s edge because I also want to capture the reflections in the water which I think are as beautiful as the fireworks, themselves. I particularly like the way the white reflections stand out among the deep red in this one.
I’m afraid the small size format of my blog doesn’t do these images justice, since a larger view is required to see the fine details and fully appreciate them. If you have a larger monitor, you can click on the photo to see a larger version.
Rising Above
This is the lighthouse at the end of the pier in Kewaunee, WI. The sun rising over Lake Michigan created some unusual tones on this morning – due, I believe, to the low, thicker clouds that muted the light on the horizon.

These are the some of the regulars who frequent the birdbath and feeders in our yard. The yellow ones are male American Goldfinches. The other three are House Finches – the males having the red coloring.
In the interest of full disclosure – I never got more than three of them to belly up to the bar at one time, so a little Pops Digital magic was needed to fill up the spaces.

Gold on the Water
The light reflecting off the water looks like streaks of liquid gold. This is a view of the Kewaunee, Wisconsin lighthouse. It sits on a long pier that extends out into Lake Michigan.

Salmon Hunters
This is a fall sunrise at Algoma, Wisconsin. Fisherman line the piers in hopes of catching the salmon that make their way from Lake Michigan into the harbor and up the Ahnapee River to spawn.
This particular morning, low level fog covered the lake just beyond the piers. You can’t see them, but there were fishing boats trolling just outside of the harbor opening.

Distant Desire
The lighthouse at Kewaunee, Wisconsin sits at the end of a very long, concrete pier. I was on the beach when I took this photo, just moments before the sun would rise.

Beacons of the Night
The rising, full moon and the Kewaunee, WI lighthouse were competing for equal billing last night.
I did a little experimenting with HDR techniques. I like the different colors created in the reflections by the orange-ish moon and the yellowish light.

This was a photo where the star of the show is light. It’s a winter sunrise taken at the sparkling, snow-covered beach in Kewaunee, WI.
