The Sausage Grinder

Toy, Creepy, Clown, Sausage Grinder

This is a creepy toy I spotted in the famous Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon. The mansion is now more of a museum and this was in one of the children’s rooms. The sausage grinder wouldn’t be creepy on its own, but set that clown next to it….yikes!

It’s a little disturbing to think little children probably had fun playing with these toys. It’s just evidence of how perceptions and taste and culture change over time.

War Bonnet

Butterfly, Red, Leaf

The attention-grabbing, bold color and contrast on this small butterfly’s wings are clearly a work of God’s design and creativity.

Last month, during a trip to the Branson, Missouri area I spent a couple of hours at the Butterfly Palace.  They have a variety of winged creatures flitting around their man-made tropical environment. When in the area, I try to make my way there because I’m always sure to get some worthwhile images.

The detail in this butterfly’s wings is amazing. You can get a better view by clicking on the photo.

Precious Reminder

Forget Me Not, Flower, Blue, Tiny
Tiny in size but big on charm. The Forget Me Not blooms are some of my favorites.  I don’t find them often, but when I do it’s a delight. I found these blooming in the shade at the small, Lincoln Park zoo in Manitowoc.

Forget Me Nots are part of the Myosotis genus. This unusual Greek name means mouse’s ear, which is a pretty literal description of the shape of the flower’s small petals.
