This is the lighthouse at the end of the pier in Kewaunee, WI. The sun rising over Lake Michigan created some unusual tones on this morning – due, I believe, to the low, thicker clouds that muted the light on the horizon.

Comforting Glow
It hard to beat the beauty of a sunrise filling the sky with color and the waves with sparkles. This is one of my favorite subjects – the lighthouse at Algoma, Wisconsin as the sun rises over Lake Michigan.

Gold on the Water
The light reflecting off the water looks like streaks of liquid gold. This is a view of the Kewaunee, Wisconsin lighthouse. It sits on a long pier that extends out into Lake Michigan.

Cast Away
The early morning light offers a clear silhouette of two fisherman at the end of the pier, next to the Kewaunee, Wisconsin lighthouse.
This is similar to an image I posted a few days ago. The two fishermen just seemed to be talking in the previous photo – Morning Friends. I like this one because the fisherman on the right is clearly casting as the other watches.

Salmon Hunters
This is a fall sunrise at Algoma, Wisconsin. Fisherman line the piers in hopes of catching the salmon that make their way from Lake Michigan into the harbor and up the Ahnapee River to spawn.
This particular morning, low level fog covered the lake just beyond the piers. You can’t see them, but there were fishing boats trolling just outside of the harbor opening.

Fire & Ice Sunrise
I just realized that I had never posted one of my all time favorite and best selling images on this photo blog. It’s been around so long and many have seen it, but it never made it to this site.
This is the very first, high-quality photo I took that made me think maybe I could be a decent photographer. This was taken in late December of 2006, using my old Kodak Easyshare DX7590.
The image, of course, is the lighthouse at Algoma, Wisconsin, just before sunrise.

Distant Desire
The lighthouse at Kewaunee, Wisconsin sits at the end of a very long, concrete pier. I was on the beach when I took this photo, just moments before the sun would rise.

Morning Friends
Up before sunrise, a couple of friends talk while waiting for the fish to bite. They are fishing off the end of the Kewaunee, WI lighthouse pier. Kewaunee is a small harbor village on the western shore of Lake Michigan.

The Early Bird
Not many are up early enough to catch the sunrise. How many beautiful scenes have been sacrificed on the altar of another hour’s sleep.
This sunrise was enjoyed by a bluebird in our back yard…and me.

Bright Light Beyond
Finally a good one! The weather and my schedule have not cooperated with me, lately. It has been weeks since I was able to photograph a nice sunrise.
Normally I’m out early on Saturday and Sunday mornings trying to capture the sunrise. The sun is rising early enough at this time of year that I was able to get out yesterday morning (Tuesday) before having to get ready for work.
This, of course, is the sun rising over Lake Michigan, beyond the lighthouse at Kewaunee, WI. Taken about 5:40 am.
