The morning clouds were thick enough to obscure the rising sun but light enough to create a stunning, luminescent backdrop for the Kewaunee, WI lighthouse and pier on the western shore of Lake Michigan.

Sundown Bay
A couple of months ago my wife and I took a few days away in Door County. On our first evening, we made our way to the shore of Green Bay to catch the sunset. The low clouds added a bit of drama to an, otherwise, calm day’s end.

Beadwork
Form, flowing lines and color make this an interesting image for me. A simple hostas leaf retains the remnants of a spring shower.

Lakeside Sedation
The pre-sunrise calm of the Lake Michigan shoreline can have a calming effect. This is an early morning view from the beach at Kewaunee, Wisconsin.

Pick A Color
Algoma’s annual Shanty Days celebration wraps up with a fireworks show on Sunday night. I was there, on the beach, near the water’s edge with my camera to catch the colors in sky and on the water.
Those familiar with the Algoma harbor will recognize the red light on the lower right of the photo as the lighthouse at the end of the pier.

Dawn’s Early Flight
On the morning I took this photo, it was a calm and slowly brightening scene. I was focused on capturing the color in the clouds behind the lighthouse.
A large number of seagulls were resting on the pier running perpendicular to the lighthouse, apparently having spent the night there.
For no particular reason, they began to take off and I simply clicked the shutter several times as they inserted themselves into the scene.

Impersonating the Sun
The full moon took on a color more like the sun as it began its rise over Lake Michigan, behind the Kewaunee, WI lighthouse and pier.
The two people on the pier near the bottom left corner are fishermen who were packing it in for the day.

Rocket’s Red Glare
I’m blessed to live in an area where local firework’s displays are launched near water. I always position myself close to the water so I can include the colorful reflections from the bright lights in the sky in my images. This is a perfect example.
The bright red from this fireworks burst creates a stunning reflection in the Kewaunee, WI harbor. This was part of their annual Trout Festival celebration.

Rinse & Repeat
Our grandson, Sammy, actually likes bath time. At only eight months old, he doesn’t even mind the rinse cycle.
The hand model is grandma – my lovely wife, Sara.

Blue Spectacular
A burst of red, white and blue filled the sky and reflected in the harbor at Kewaunee, Wisconsin during their 2013 Trout Festival.
Kewaunee always puts on a great fireworks display for their Trout Fest.
