Morning Break
The gentle waves and pre-sunrise glow created a relaxing experience on the shores of Lake Michigan near the Kewaunee, WI lighthouse and pier.

Catching Some Waves
Two fishing buddies are casting for the early bite from the pier at Kewaunee, WI. The waves seemed particularly excited to see the sun that morning.

Wave Action
I was photographing a sunrise from the beach in Kewaunee, WI. Usually the Lake Michigan is calm in the early morning hours. On this particular morning, there was a little bit of surf. I moved my tripod closer to the water’s edge and tried to capture the small waves as they splashed on the shore. This is one of those attempts.
Afterwards, I thought of several things I could have tried (camera settings) to make this better. I’ll have to give it another whirl…the next time I’m on the beach and the water is rough.

Sun & Surf Rising
Rough seas and a rising sun create a nice contrast in this image. Normally the early morning, beach-side view of Lake Michigan is calm and reflective of the sun as it emerges above the horizon. The morning of this shot, the tension of the rough, rolling waves quash the calm.
The structure near the horizon is the lighthouse at Kewaunee, WI.
