Bluebird Babe on a Branch
This is a fledgling bluebird perched on a tree branch, bathed in the warm glow of early morning sunlight filtering through the leaves. At this age, the bluebird isn’t very blue, with muted brown and white plumage.
This is an image I captured in the yard of our rural Wisconsin home in the spring of 2023.

Heartwarming Cold Morning
A serene sunrise spreads warm hues above an icy Lake Michigan shore where the Kewaunee Wisconsin lighthouse holds its position at the end of a long pier.
The bare tree branches framing the top left corner of the scene adds a touch of nature to the tranquil, winter morning. This photo was taken almost ten years ago. Current visitors will notice the lack of any trees in this area of the shoreline.

Coming In Hot
The Algoma, Wisconsin lighthouse and pier stands in silhouette against a dramatic sunrise sky, with contrails piercing through the clouds. The calm, cool Lake Michigan waters seem unaffected by the rising drama.
This is a companion image to “Path to Glory” that I posted May 21st. If you compare them it’s obvious, they were both taken on the same morning from a slightly different angle. This was a hidden gem I found on my hard drive from 2014.

Wings to Fly
A close-up view of a classic, 1931 Ford Model A hood ornament with a flying wings design. The rich red color of the car and the shiny chrome detailing reflect the vintage style and craftsmanship of the automobile.
This is another tip of the hat to car lovers and car show fans. This photo was taken at the annual car show in Algoma, Wisconsin a number of years past.

Sunrise and Dark Shadows
The Kewaunee, Wisconsin lighthouse stands at the end of a long pier under a dramatic, morning sky.
I decided to process this one as a monochrome image. It was a dark and ominous scene and, though it was a little after sunrise, there wasn’t much color in the sky. I think the black and white treatment accentuates the contrast between the dark clouds and the light background reflecting off the surface of the water.

Duck Duck
Here are a couple of colorful, male mallard ducks. They were two of the hundreds of ducks that congregate at the lagoon at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay, Wisconsin. There are always a variety of ducks and geese and assorted other birds and wildlife.

Path to Glory
The upper half of the Algoma, Wisconsin lighthouse was framed by contrail streaks just before sunrise. Algoma is located on the western shore of Lake Michigan.
It was a crazy sky that morning. There were low, dark clouds on the horizon and high, light wispy clouds above. Adding to the crazy were a number of contrails being highlighted by the hidden sun. There were more contrails than what you see here. Watch for another, wider shot from this same morning that I plan on posting in the near future.

Bonneville
A classic car, Pontiac Bonneville, with its shiny chrome bumper and accents was a classy addition to the 2014 annual Car Show in Algoma, Wisconsin. You gotta love that grill and sleek headlight design. The car’s distinctive styling, with its sizable front bumper and wide grill, evokes fond memories of a dearly departed automotive era.
I’m not enough of a car aficionado to tell you what year this car was built. If you are, share your knowledge in a comment.

Unpretentious Beauty
A bunch of wild daisies that bloomed annually and self propagated liberally every spring. I love the simplicity of white petals and bright yellow centers standing out against a blur of green foliage.
These are from a patch of daisies that we welcomed every spring in our yard. Every year the main patch would expand a little and other little patches would pop up in the lawn nearby.

Wisps of Grandeur
A tranquil sunrise casts warm hues across the sky behind the Algoma, Wisconsin lighthouse and pier. The calm waters of the harbor offer a colorful welcome to fishing boats as the day dawns.
