Patas Monkey See
A patas monkey stares through the leaves of a plant in its enclosure at the Topeka Zoo. It really had no interest in me; looking the other way. I made a noise that momentarily brought this annoyed gaze my way.

Touch of Teal
A darling wood duck stands gracefully on a moss-covered perch at the edge of a rippling pond. In my mind, the highlight of this image is that little patch of teal on the wings. Such an appealing color.
I grabbed this shot while walking through the zoo in Topeka, KS. This was at one of their small ponds outside; not in any kind of enclosure.

Found Him
A little marine life for you, courtesy of the Indianapolis Zoo. This is a Clownfish; also known as an Anemonefish. Of course, if you ask any child, they’ll tell you, “It’s Nemo!”
You have to love the vivid color of this fish. This photo turned out better than I expected, but I wish the focus was a bit sharper on the fish – in part, due to the very low light conditions. The ISO was cranked up to 3200.

Aging Patriot
Happy Independence Day!
This wounded warrior was sighted at the Topeka, Kansas zoo. They had two bald eagles on display who had been injured and no longer able to fly, so they were life-long residents.

Waiting for Winter
Winter tends to come early and stay late in these parts, but I don’t think this polar bear would mind. This was taken before the onset of cold and snow – back in early September. This bear was a resident of the Indianapolis Zoo.

Gazing Beyond
It’s all in the eyes. This ring-tailed lemur obviously had his mind on other things. This is one picture, I think , is worth a thousand or so words.
What do you imagine he’s thinking about? Is he working calculus problems in his head? Fondly remembering a long lost love? Thinking ahead of an upcoming vacation on a secluded, tropical island? Fresh bananas?
I don’t know exactly what he was thinking about. Your guess is as good as mine.

Leapin’ Lemurs
These Ring-tailed Lemurs didn’t care to walk among the herd of turtles on their path, so they took to leaping over them. The turtles just watched.
Notice the pink reflection in the water. Those are flamingos on the shore beyond the water’s edge.
I snapped a number of photos of the Lemurs on a recent visit to the zoo in Indianapolis, IN. You’ll see a few more images posted here in the near future, so check back often.

Watch Out for the Duck
These Ring-tailed Lemur’s presented a good subject for a high-contrast B&W image. I took a bunch of pictures of these fun rascals at the zoo in Indianapolis, IN.
