Otherworldly
This is a wide-angle view of the unique landscape found at Badlands National Park in South Dakota, USA.
I took a different approach to this image. Using a fisheye, wide-angle lens, I was able to squeeze a lot of geography into the frame. Normally to see this view, you would have a much wider image. (Compare my previous post of a similar landscape.) This particular lens also adds a curvature to the horizon.

Big Badlands Overlook
This was our first view of the amazing scenery at Badlands National Park in South Dakota. This observation point is known as the Big Badlands Overlook. This was our first visit to the Badlands and it was stunning, to say the least.
This is a very large image, created by stitching 6 individual photos together. It is so large that it is hard to take it all in. To get a sense of the grandeur, you need to view the largest version your screen will allow. Simply click on the photo and a large version will open in a new browser tab. Baird Creek Bed
This is a summertime view of Baird Creek – a natural treasure that winds through northeast Green Bay, Wisconsin.
I took this photo while on a recent hike along one of the well-kept nature trails that accompany the creek. It’s a great place to get out into nature while still in the city.

The Grand Overview
I was able to capture this spectacular view by being in the right place at the right time. This a view of the Cascade mountain range as the sun was setting (out of view, to the right), looking south from the Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood in Oregon. The prominent peak in the middle is Mount Jefferson in Linn County. I was able to do a little hiking and sightseeing while in the Portland area for a conference in early October.
This is a massive file because it is about 9 individual photos all joined together to be able to capture the full panorama. It is hard to get the full benefit of this scene without viewing it on a large scale. Above the Timberline
This is a grand view of Mount Hood taken on an early October afternoon. According to Wikipedia, “In addition to being Oregon’s highest mountain, it is one of the loftiest mountains in the nation based on its prominence, and it offers the only year-round lift-served skiing in North America.”
I had the opportunity to visit the Portland, OR area and did a little hiking. (Watch for more photos in the future.) This image was captured on a highway we traveled to visit the Timberline Lodge, on Mount Hood. Of course, I took a number of photos of this rock, from a variety of angles. This is the first one I had a chance to process. It may be the best. We’ll see.
