Frost On a Stick
In a hopeful, “Goodbye,” wave to winter, here is a photo I took a few weeks back on a cold and frosty morning. There was a slight mist in the air before sunrise that provided the moisture for the clinging frost. These are some dormant weeds at the edge of the farm field that borders our homestead.

Fern of Fancy
This fern, found in the woodlands of northeast Wisconsin, was in the final stages of unfurling. In the spring these ferns sprout from the ground and go through the process of spreading their highly divided leaves.
The delicate curl you see at the ends of the fronds will soon straighten out. These ferns can quickly take over an area of forest floor when they are growing in favorable conditions.

Vestibule Glass
This is the remarkable stained glass window that graces the vestibule of the Centerburg Christian Church in Centerburg, OH. This small town church, established in 1897, is filled with beautiful, hand painted, stained glass from early last century.
I’m a big fan of good stained glass. This particular type of stained glass – where much of it was actually hand-painted – is the best. This church features some very large stained glass windows. You can view one of the larger ones I posted earlier ,here – I Stand At The Door And Knock.

Winter Coat
A fresh coat of fluffy snow blanketed these dormant plants…and everything else in the woods after a recent storm.
Without the coating of snow, these plants wouldn’t earn my attention. Sometimes bringing two ordinary elements together creates something extraordinary. Keep your eyes open and your camera ready.

Winter Warm Spot
In a very cold world, the sun offers a ray of hope. This comforting spot was found the morning after a recent storm that coated everything with beautiful, fluffy snow.
I captured this image just after sunrise at a spot near our rural home in NE Wisconsin. Of course, I had to get off the beaten path and tromp through the snow to grab this view.
My favorite feature of this image is the sunlight (and subsequent shadows) on the ground.

Lombardi Trophy Lineup at Packers Hall of Fame
This is the display of Vince Lombardi Trophies at the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame located at Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin.
A Vince Lombardi Trophy is awarded each year to the winning team of the National Football League’s championship game, the Super Bowl. The trophy is named in honor of legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi.
I grabbed this image on a visit to the Packers Hall of Fame in September of 2015. It’s been lying dormant on my computer’s hard drive since then just waiting for some attention. Today, being the Season Opener for the Packers, I thought it would be a good time to process and post it. You’ll notice, there is plenty of room for more of these in the Packers Hall of Fame.

Fully Charged
Lightning lit up the sky as a post script to the powerful storm that just rolled through our rural area of Kewaunee County in northeast Wisconsin.
A severe storm had just pushed through. On the horizon, the sky turned a wild, orangeish-red and the lightning continued to flash for awhile. I’m afraid I was a little late to the party. I should have gotten my camera out sooner. I was able to capture three shots with lightning – this, being the best one.
In the foreground you see the farm field, planted with corn in its early stages, soaked with water that reflects the brightness of the lightning. This shot was taken from a third-floor vantage point in the attic or our home. Very cool to watch.
This is one you’ll want to view in the larger version to see the fine detail in the lightning. You can do so by clicking on the image.

Bill Pevlor is Pops Digital
Starting the new year off with a new blog site for my photography. Welcome to PopsDigital.com.
I’m looking forward to the images 2011 will yield. I’ve recently stepped up my digital photography game with a new camera – the Sony SLT-A55. It’s going to take awhile to really be able to harness all the capabilities and features of this camera. I’m still researching and adding new accessories. I have my eye on a new high quality printer. (My mind says, “Yes, yes!,” my wallet says, “Not now, you fool.”) Nothing like new equipment to get your creative juices flowing.
Like all websites, this is a work in progress. I was intent on getting something up and running on January 1st. Obviously, there are more images to add, more tools to implement, more entries to post, but everyone has to start somewhere. If I waited until I had it exactly as I’d like it, it would never be ready.
I hope you’ll check back on a regular basis. You could also subscribe to the RSS feed or friend me on Facebook.
This first photo posted is a digitally-altered, self portrait. That’s me, Bill Pevlor, aka Pops Digital.
