Stairway
Descent to Vertigo

Going down! These steps are part of the arduous 303 step stairway to a scenic view at Roche-A-Cri State Park near Friendship, Wisconsin. It’s quite a climb to the top but worth the view and a welcome place to rest before beginning the descent.
I took a few photos of the stairway and thought this one was most interesting because of the turns and the angle of the shot. This was shot with a wide-angle lens (12mm). I processed this photo in both color and monochrome and asked my wife to pick the one she preferred. She liked the B&W best. So here it is.

Take The Stairs
This is an old, metal stairway brightened by a light from above. The angles, the distressed ceiling and walls plus the light coming from the second floor as well as a small window just to the left give this image a lot of character.
I debated with myself for some time over whether to present this as you see here, in color, or to make it monochrome. I like both versions, but decided on the color version. I will likely share the B&W version at a future date.

Lighting of the Whale

Another holiday tradition has been established. On Black Friday, the Milwaukee Public Museum flips the switch on more than 4,200 lights that decorate a 36 foot long humpback whale skeleton.
The skeleton is a permanent display that hangs from the ceiling over the museum’s grand staircase.

Epic Spiral Stairway
Things are looking up. (Well, I was, anyway.) This is a view of a unique spiral stairway with my wife and son looking down at me. (Probably thinking, “Can we go now? How many more pictures are you going to take?”)
These are photos I took a couple of years ago as we toured the company my son works for – Epic in Verona, WI. They specialize in software for the medical industry. They have a very cool campus with buildings that tend to be theme oriented, accented with unique architecture, sculpture and artwork. Plenty of cool stuff to point a camera at.
All these images are looking up at the same stairway from different angles.

Lower Level Sprites
The sprites have their own interpretative dance party at the bottom of a lighted stairway on the campus of Epic in Verona, Wisconsin.
This photo was taken as we toured the huge Epic campus – led by our son, who works for the major software company. Epic is the world leader in software for mid-size and large medical groups, hospitals and integrated healthcare organizations.
